The TIDES are High in Boracay!
This resort/hotel is located in a perfect spot if you are a party animal. It is right behind the Ferris wheel in D'Mall. What's better is the fact that it is a minute walk from Cyma. Yummy. It's clean, classy and right smack in the middle of Boracay night and shopping life. Very friendly staff assisted us from the pick up to the drop off. Although there were some confusion when we arrived, (we were not picked up at the airport), they have reimbursed us for the ride we had to take. So all was good. The bad things that happened, I will tell you in my Part 2 blog about my Boracay trip.
The lobby is very attractive. They have this super cool chair made of wooden pegs and when you sit, it just follows the mold of your behind. :) But don't try this when you are wearing your bathing suit or bikini girls. Speaking from experience, they tend to pinch your skin. Ouch.
Anyway, the rooms are very clean (probably because it is brand new, let's hope it stays clean for a long time). The whole hotel has carried a black, white and wooden theme and it very much reminded us of Embassy in Fort. Managing Directors, Erik Cua & Stephen Ku along with partners Tim Yap, Iza Calzado, Jerry Garcia, Juan Elizalde, Robby Carmona, GP Reyes, & Chef Fernando Aracama owns and runs THE TIDES Boracay. So basically you know where all the social busy bees will be during Holy Week.
Each room has a big flat screen television, for those who like to waste their time indoors instead of enjoying the sun. The layout was done very well. The three major bathroom necessities are all separated meaning, the bathtub (for the suites) and shower is separated from the sink, which is also separated from the toilet. So no need to wait for your room mate to finish using the bathroom before it's your turn.
Another good thing about THE TIDES is the fact that the rates are on a per/room basis and not per/person. That made our package very attractive which made us decide to take a weekend off and stay here despite the rainy season. Low season begins from July and ends on October because it is when the Philippines is usually battered with storms, floods and thunder. I it was explained to us by Stephen Ku, Director of Sales and Marketing, the country is experiencing El Nino which means, not too much rain yet so there's still time to party. And party was exactly what we did (more on that on my next blog).
The overall look of this resort is quite impressive. If you are a city girl, you belong here. There's a function room on the top floor where they serve the meals included in your package. Right beside it is the roof top swimming pool and sun bathing area which reminded me of Minotti furtinure. Really beautiful and relaxing and would be a great place to hold a party which I believe will be one as soon as it is High Season.
Luckily, when we used the pool, we were the only ones there. It's as if we had the whole hotel to ourselves and it felt wonderful to have peace and quiet and no one to bother us. The kitchen is not fully operational yet though. Probably because THE TIDES is still basically on dry run. But nevertheless, the service was impeccable and very personalized.
Here's to THE TIDES, the sun, sand and everything we all love about Boracay!!!
