The Storm that Went Through Boracay...

If the Philippines is going through a signal #1 storm, it is probably because my gang and I brought it to the country. We were as strong as Signal #4 when we stormed Boracay last Friday, Srdjan Mendoza, Puey Quinones, Jay Abalos and yours truly. We arrived on the island and painted the beach red with our nonstop search for the most beautiful man on shore. With about 20 contenders, we realized that he was right under our noses. Yup, Srdjan is the winner. I am sure Puey, Jay and I all agree to that.

We stayed at THE TIDES Boracay where we received first class service care of Puey Q, who has all the right connections (hihi).
Our package for the weekend was too good to pass up so despite the rainy season, we went ahead and celebrated my birthday weekend at the beach. 3days/2nights, inclusive of airfare, daily breakfast, transfers, welcome drink and free upgrade to a suite only cost us $210.00. Not bad right?

The weather was even good to us. On our first day, it only rained during the afternoon for an hour after which it was blue skies all the way till night time. On the second day, we woke up with gray skies and rain pouring but after brunch, the sun decided to come out and play. You kind of even welcome the rain because it got too hot at one point.

Perfect as it seems, there were some mishaps that occurred. Firstly, PQ lost his passport and loads of cash on our first day. We did all we could do but despite our efforts, all he could do is drown his sorrows away and cancel his trip to Bali next week. Secondly, on our first night, we all vowed to one another that we would party till daylight. We decided to nap so that we would have the energy to do so. We didn't wake up till very late, ate burgers and went straight back to continue our beauty sleep. Just when the party on Station 2 was just starting to kick. Guess that is a sign that we are getting old. hihihi.

Next was finding this fish on the shore, dead. It's such a pity. They are so nice to watch when they swim because they are fat and pudgy with tiny fins. (I dive). After saying a short quiet prayer, PQ put a sign of a cross before it. :(

On our way home, Jay was bumped off because we checked in late and the girl at the counter gave his seat away. Despite my efforts to get him on the same flight, it was futile. But anyway, thanks to Joel Nunez for trying.

Announcement!! PQ has another talent that was unleashed in Boracay. Other than the fact that he is one of the countries top fashion designer, a great cook and ballroom dancer, he is also a photographer. He discovered his love for photos when he purchased his Canon from Mark Nicdao, a famous photographer in the country. PQ took amazing shots and after I saw them, I decided to dedicate a blog featuring his work. Please watch out for that in the next few days.

Everyday that we were there, we just had to go to Friday's Beach Resort in Station 1. It is still my ultimate favorite Boracay resort. It just feels different being far away from the chaotic mall goers and party people. Although night life in Bora is fun, walking back to Station 1 and the thought of a room made of native materials, yet clean and air conditioned is much like heaven. That, plus the fond memories the place holds for me. :) This time though, we didn't get to go to Mandala Spa where the honeymoon package was an experience that I am not likely to forget. (wink wink)

Enjoy the photos care of my old but handy Sony Cybershot. Maybe it is time for me to invest on a new one too. Soon...very soon.

Srdjan and I enjoying the sun.

For a quick bite, PQ had a roasted squid dipped in SUPER MEGA hot sauce that I could see fire coming out of his mouth.

Jay lounging around the roof deck of THE TIDES.

An Afghan sand sculptor showed off his skills by molding this naked woman on the sand in 15 minutes.

The view from Friday's. Breathtaking isn't it? Sigh......

Jay and I taking a dip to cool off from the hot sunny afternoon.

Your author. I think I have used this towel shirt too many times. Thank goodness it is rainy season.
